A North Coast Beach Maternity Session with a Beautiful Name Reveal
There is something particularly special about maternity sessions with first-time parents.
The excitement is written all over their faces. Every conversation seems to circle back to the little person they're about to meet, and every moment together carries the knowledge that life is about to change forever.
I've actually been holding off sharing this session until Ellie and Connor’s baby girl arrived safely earthside. Sometimes it feels lovely to keep these moments tucked away for a little while, preserving the secret until the family is ready to introduce their newest member to the world.
Now that she is here, I can finally share this beautiful chapter of their story.
We met on the Whiterocks beach, Portrush on the beautiful Causeway Coast for a relaxed maternity session by the sea. The morning was calm, and from the very beginning there was an effortless connection and just undeniable happiness emanating from these two. Rather than focusing on posed photographs, we spent our time walking, talking and simply documenting this season of anticipation.
The couple wandered along the shoreline together, taking in the views and enjoying some quiet time before the arrival of their daughter. There was no rush and no pressure, just space to enjoy one another's company and reflect on everything that was about to change.
One of the sweetest moments of the session came when mummy to be wanted to paddle in the sea.
Without hesitation, Connor helped Ellie take off her shoes before she stepped into the water, and patiently help her put them back on again at the end of our session. Such a simple act of care, but one that spoke volumes about their relationship and the partnership they are building as they prepare to become parents.
The sea was calm, the light was beautiful, and the whole session felt wonderfully relaxed.
Ellie had her bump on show the whole time, and it was quite honestly the most perfect little bump. A beautiful reminder of the tiny baby girl growing inside and the incredible journey her body was taking her on.
There is something so powerful about documenting pregnancy in a natural way. Not because of elaborate styling or dramatic poses, but because of the quiet confidence and strength that comes with carrying a child.
As the session unfolded, there were conversations about names, hopes for the future and dreams for the little girl they were about to meet. Looking back now, knowing she has arrived safely, those moments feel even more meaningful.
One of the things I love most about maternity photography is that it captures a chapter that is incredibly fleeting.
For months, pregnancy feels like your whole world. Then suddenly your baby arrives, and life moves forward at a remarkable pace. These photographs become a way of remembering the waiting, the excitement, the uncertainty and the love that existed before you ever held your child in your arms.
This session was full of all those things.
A walk along the beach. Bare feet in the sea. Hands resting on a growing bump. Quiet acts of care between two people deeply excited to become parents.
